"Pilibhit" is a short film set in the rural Himalayas. Famous for artisanal flutes, the Pilibhit district is also well-known for a high rate of tiger attacks, for which the government compensates the deceased's family.
When the yearly emporium is cancelled, a widowed artisan struggles with a difficult decision.

In collaboration with director Ashutosh Chaturvedi, the poster for the film's virtual premiere at the Cinelebu International Film Festival in 2021 was created.
We further created digital collaterals by adapting poster elements to promote the film through social media for the 57 festivals it was later selected for.
REFERENCE IMAGERY
As the main character, Siraj, dominates the screen-time, he became the poster's subject. Stills of him crafting flutes were collected and served as the reference for the key art element.
To imagine particular poses, I also created reference images with myself to draw from.

DRAFTS + SKETCHES
The chief elements that formed the first draft were the face of the main character, and disembodied hands holding a flute.
With my self-created reference image, the direction in the first draft itself was approved and continually improved upon.

FINAL POSTER DESIGN
In the final composition, the face and hands with the flute were superimposed with scratch marks, insinuating the plot conflict.
Converting the key elements into all-yellow involved:
(1) Amplifying the tension to suggest the character is being hunted,
(2) Referencing the yellow border wall between jungle and village, which plays a key role in the film.
